Our Strategy

We have set 'big hairy audacious goals' for the next 30 years and have planned our strategy for the next three to five years to achieve these goals.

Our Purpose

Always with humility, the purpose of the Adara Group is to:

  • work side by side with communities and children in remote areas in Nepal and Uganda to improve their lives; and
  • change the way people think about the role of business in the world and the power of business/non-profit partnerships.

Our Guiding Principles

The core underpinning philosophy of Adara's work is that we always, always do what's best for the kids and families we support. Our work is guided by a detailed development philosophy and a culture and values statement throughout the organisation.

Our Peaks of Excellence

There are three peaks of excellence fundamental to our strategy and achieving our goals.

BEST PRACTICE SERVICE DELIVERY
  • Our top priority is to support the communities we partner with in Uganda and Nepal to the very best of our ability, using best-practice approaches. We are committed to continual review and monitoring of our work and to serving our communities better - ensuring we work to a standard of global excellence.

RESEARCH
  • Research is at the heart of what we do, and informs all our projects. Research contributes to the planning process, so that projects are designed taking into account community issues and needs. This ensures that all decisions are evidence based. As Adara grows, we plan to expand and strengthen our research work to better understand the impact of our work in the short, medium and long term. We are building out our research focus over the next few years and intend to share our experience and knowledge widely so others can learn from our successes as well as our mistakes.

KNOWLEDGE SHARING
  • We want to move from supporting tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of people in need and share the information obtained from our research and experience so other organisations can learn from our mistakes and successes. Our aim is not to run more projects but to deepen service, and create a third pillar of our work - knowledge sharing. We will focus on building our capacity to support others through developing tool kits and other resources that can be adapted by others and used by those who want to undertake similar projects and by communities on the ground.
