Finance Officer, Uganda

We are seeking a Finance Officer to support the financial operations of Adara Development in Uganda.

Location: Based at Kiwoko Hospital, Nakaseke District, Uganda

Employment status: Full time

Reports to: Finance Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a Finance Officer to support the financial operations of Adara Development in Uganda. Based at Kiwoko Hospital and reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining strong financial controls, supporting budgeting and reporting, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and posting financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Managing month-end processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
  • Preparing and analysing budget versus actual reports
  • Supporting the annual budgeting process and fund requests
  • Ensuring financial policies, procedures and internal controls are followed and continuously improved
  • Liasing with internal stakeholders, auditors, banks and government bodies
About you

You are an experienced finance professional with strong technical skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach. You are confident working in a complex environment and committed to maintaining high standards of financial integrity.

You will bring:

  • A degree in business, accounting, economics or a related field
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar role, including month-end processes and financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls and accounting principles
  • Experience using accounting systems and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • The ability to build effective working relationships across teams

Desirable:

  • CPA (or working towards) and/or experience in an NGO environment
