Josephine Nakakande

 Josephine is Adara’s Newborn Health Technical Officer, working to strengthen the capacity of health workers and health systems to deliver high-impact, evidence-based care for sick and small newborns.

Her work includes providing technical mentorship, strengthening health systems, and collaborating with health facilities, district health teams, and the Ministry of Health. She supports the development of newborn health training materials, the establishment of newborn training teams, and the delivery of training and ongoing mentorship across AdaraNewborn-supported facilities.

Prior to joining Adara, Josephine worked at Kiwoko Hospital for 23 years, including serving as Nurse in Charge of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She oversaw the day-to-day management of the unit and delivered training for Kiwoko staff, as well as doctors and nurses from across Uganda who travelled to Kiwoko for professional development.

Josephine is deeply committed to improving newborn outcomes and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and expertise with others.
