Adara Group wins Organizational Impact Award

The Adara Group has today been announced the winner of the Washington Global Health Alliance (WGHA) “Organizational Impact Award”. This award recognises an organisation making an exceptional impact and improving global health equity as a result of innovation, deference to local leaders, and collaboration among diverse partners.

Adara was selected for their work delivering high-quality healthcare to women, newborns and children at health facilities, in the community and at home – as well as their efforts to scale their high impact model of care across Uganda through AdaraNewborn

“We are thrilled to have our work and our incredible teams recognised in this way,” said Brooke Magnusson, Adara’s Global Health Director. “In particular, this award acknowledges the outstanding impact of our AdaraNewborn model and our efforts to halve newborn deaths and stillbirths across 10 health facilities in Uganda over the next decade. Adara’s lifesaving work is driven by our incredible teams around the world who strive every day to improve health equity for all. This achievement would not have been possible without them.”

This year marks Adara’s 25th anniversary. Adara Development’s CEO, Madeline Vaughan, says she is delighted to see this recognition in such a milestone year: “Since 1998, we’ve been on a mission to strengthen Maternal, Newborn and Child Health services. We’ve tackled the causes of maternal and newborn mortality with tenacity, evidence and a belief that every woman and child deserve access to quality care, no matter where they live. To receive this award as we hit our 25th anniversary feels very fitting – it’s acknowledgement of all that we’ve achieved so far and a reminder of the work that lies ahead.”

Adara was selected by the WGHA judging committee from a group of three finalists. Previous winners include International Medical Corps and the COVID-19 Prevention Network.

Adara will formally accept the award at the Global Health Impact Awards ceremony in Seattle, Washington on October 4.
